Circles -
A set of points on the plane of fixed distance from a fixed point called the center.
Radius/Radii -
Any segment joining the center to any point on the circle. (The distance from the center of the circle to any point of circumference)
Chord -
Any segment whose end point lies on the circle.
Diameter -
Any chord that contains the center of the circle.
Concentric Circles -
Circles with the same center but different radii.
Congruent Circles -
Circles that have the same length of radii.
Interior of Circle -
The set of all points in the circle whose distance from the center is less than the radius.
Exterior Circle -
The set of all point in the circle whose distance from the center is greater than the radius.
Central Angle -
Whose vertex is at the center of the circle.
Arc -
Part of a circle that consists 2 points on the circle. And the unbroken part.
Minor arc -
Less than 180°. Uses 2 capital letters.
Major arc -
Greater than 180° but lesser than 360°. Uses 3 capital letters.
Semicircle -
Half circle.
Adjacent arcs -
2 arcs on the same circle that have exactly one common point(vertex).
Congruent arcs -
Arcs having the same degree measure.
Circumcircle -
A circumscribed circle around or about a polygon.
Inscribed Polygon -
A polygon with all its vertices located on the circle.
Arc Addition Postulate -
Measure of an arc by 2 adjacent arcs is the sum of the measures of the 2 arcs.
Inscribed angle -
An angle whose vertex is on the circle and whose sides contain chords of the circle.
Intercepted arc -
(of an inscribed angle) an arc whose endpoints are on the sides of the angle and whose remaining points lie in the interior of the angle. |
Vertex -
A point where 2 lines meet and form an angle.
