A gold rush in B.C. that attracted lots of different people. B.C.’s population became huge and infrastructure was needed. The government borrowed money to build the colony.

Population increases from 500 people to around 20,000 need a permit to mine on land overcrowded

British Colombia, Rupert’s Land, Canada East, Canada West, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island.
