adnexa uteri

Fallopian tubes, ovaries, and supporting ligaments

Amnion ( túi ói)

Innermost membranous sac surrounding the developing fetus.

areola (vùng quanh núm vú)

Dark- pigmented area surrounding the breast nipple

Bartholin glands

small mucus-secreting exocrine glands at the vaginal orifice ( opening to outside of the body)

Cervix

lower, neck-like portion of the uterus

chorion

Outermost layer of the two membranes surrounding the embryo; it forms the fetal part of the placenta.

clitoris ( âm vật)

Organ of sensitive erectile tissue anterior to the opening of the female urethra

empty ovarian follicle that secretes progesterone after release of the egg cell

Estrogen

A sex hormone, secreted in greater amounts by females than by males. In nonhuman female mammals, estrogen levels peak during ovulation, promoting sexual receptivity.

fallopian tube (oviduct)

tubes which carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus and which provides the place where fertilization occurs

Fertilization

Union of the sperm cell and ovum from which the embryo develops
