Giving into an aggressor, hoping to solve an issue. How Hitler got away with invading so many countries, without too much outside interference.

The Munich Conference

When Hitler wanted to invade Czechoslovakia, and then both France and England let him. But they said he could only invade the part with ethnic Germans. (Hitler didn’t listen in the end)

The Non-Aggression Agreement

An agreement between Germany and Russia, to not fight each other. This would prevent Hitler from fighting a two front war.

The Invasion of Poland

The Event which started WWII, when Russia and Germany invaded Poland, which led to France and Great Britain declaring war on them.

The Allied Powers

Side of the war with:

• Great Britain

• France

• Russia (After being betrayed)

• The United States (After Pearl Harbor)

The Axis Powers

Side of the war with:

• Germany

• Italy

• Japan

Blitzkrieg

“Lightning war”, a tactic used by Germany to quickly defeat their enemies with little casualties. How they beat France and quickly took them out of the war.

Germany and Great Britain

Germany bombed British cities to lower their moral, and in the end failed to do so. This was Germany’s best option as invading the country would take too many soldiers.

Battle of Stalingrad

Hitler betrayed Russia, by invading them. Stalin sent all his soldiers to the city and defeated Hitler. Russia then switched sides.

The Bombing of Pearl Harbor

Japan bombing the U.S Naval base in Hawaii in order to stop them from interfering with Japan’s plans. This caused the U.S to join the war with the Allied powers.

Kamikaze Pilots

Japanese pilots who would crash their own planes, to use them as bombs.

D-Day

The Allied powers invasion of Normandy. They ended up winning making Germany fight a multiple front war.

Battle of the Bulge

Hitler’s last attempt to win. He lost and committed suicide. This led to Germany leaving the war. (Italy was also defeated, leaving Japan alone)

Island Hopping

When the U.S would strategically take certain Japanese Islands in order to get closer to Japan.

Iwo Jima

The Island which was close enough for the U.S to attack Japan.

President Truman

The president of the United States, as the end of the war.

The Manhattan Project

A project where the first Atomic Bombs were developed.

Hiroshima and Nagaski

The two cities in Japan where the U.S dropped their atomic bombs, in order to get Japan to surrender.

Conditions after WWII

There was lots of death and destruction, and also many countries formed new governments.

The Holocaust

A Genocide started by Hitler which killed around 9 million people.

Genocide

The mass killing of a certain group of people.

The Aryan race

Viewed as the best race to Hitler. They had blonde hair and blue eyes, and also had straight noses.

Nuremberg Laws

Laws which took away Jewish rights, forced them to wear the star of david and carry around identification.

Kristallnacht

“The night of broken glass” The Nazis destroyed many Jewish homes and businesses, also started bringing them to Concentration camps.

Head of the gestapo during the Holocaust

Goebbels

Known as the “seller of death”, was in charge of public relations during the Holocaust

Mengele

Experimental doctor at the camps during the Holocaust.

Eichmann

Designer of the concentration camps for the Holocaust

Nuremberg Trials

When Nazis were put on trial for crimes against humanity and war crimes.
