Analyze the various motives for imperialism?

Motives for imperialism in the late 19th century were varied and included economic, political, social, and religious factors.

Economically - Natural resources like (Rubber, Oil, and Tin)

Politically - Competitive nation-states and growing nationalism after 1870, led to a scramble for colonies to acquire ports and coaling stations for navies.

Socially- Social Darwinism and racism, with the belief that superior races must dominate the inferior races by force.

Religiously - Belief that Europeans had a moral responsibility to civilize and convert non-whites to Christianity.
