That we can endure and come back as a Union, No matter what happens, we will always be one nation.
Lincoln will do anything that he needs from a political standpoint and not a moral one.
You cant identify a “side” that he’s on because he wants to hold as much political power as he can.
He’s always trying to stay neutral, and to apply to both sides, EVEN if in the middle of a war.
War is over (April 9th, 1869)
Lincoln doesn't live a week after the war ends
Killed by John Wilkes Booth
Significance: Shows that SECTIONALISM IS NOT DEAD.
What about the 13th Amendment?
Lincoln was confident that the bill would be ratified, but the confederate peace delegation refused to pass it.
Siege at Petersburg (25 March 1865)
The Union wins the war
Robert E. Lee (Confederate) surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant at Appottomax Court House (9 April 1865)
IN ALL, THE UNION WON THE WAR
