   1. Stranger anxiety: by about 8 months, infants develop fear of strangers. They cry when they see a stranger-look for parent

   2. Separation anxiety: sam age, child begins to cry when parent leaves

   3. Contact comfort: physical and emotional comfort infants get from being touched by their mother

• Need touch and be touched by something soft

• Need stronger than the need to eat

• Attachments comes from contact
