5.1 Estar with conditions & emotions
Estar conjugated
Estoy, Estás, Está, Estamos, Están
Example of estar: Los chicos están felizes. (The boys are happy)
All adjectives agree in number and gender with the noun they modify.
Example of estar: Las chicas están tristes. (The girls are sad)
5.2 Present Progressive
Present progressive means for the action to be occurring in the moment.
How to use it: Form of estar + present participle
(Remember: Estoy, Estás, Está, Estamos, Están)
If the verb you are trying to make present progressive ends in ar, you change it to ando, and if it ends in -er or -ir, you change it to endo
ar - ando
er/ir - iendo
Examples: Hablar - Hablando (Speaking)
Comer - Comiendo (Eating)
Vivir - Viviendo (Living)
Examples: Nosotros estamos comiendo tacos (We are eating tacos)
Make sure you know the adjectives on page 188 (The blue section)

6.1 Saber vs. Conocer
Both mean “To know”, however, they are not interchangeable
Saber means to know facts or information
Conocer means to know or to be familiar with a person or a place
Saber Conjugated:
Sé, Sabes, Sabe, Sabemos, Saben
Conocer Conjugated:
Conozco, Conoces. Conoce, Conocemos, Conocen
Notice how they both have irregular Yo forms
6.3 Preterite
Ar endings:
é, aste, ó, amos, aron
Er/Ir endings
í, iste, ió, imos, ieron
Make sure you know the vocab from page 224 blocks 2 and 4 (block 2 is verbs and block 4 is adjectives)
