Retrospective Infix 더

Usage

• 더 - used when the speaker looks back on past facts, occurrences or experiences

  • Something is recalled that happened in the past

• When 더 is used as a sentence ending, it is usually followed by the exclamatory endings, such as:

  • 던데요

  • 더군요

  • 더라고요

• In sentences using 더, subject is usually in the third person

  • Exception: Describing one’s dream

• It does not matter how far back in the past an incident has been; can still use 더

Conjugation

• (VB)더/던

  • Doesn’t matter if vowel or consonant

• (N)을/를 위해서 - for the sake of

• (VB)기 위해서 - in order to
