Jesus before Pilate 

Pontius Pilate was the governor who sent Jesus to death. Barabbas was a famous murderer in a riot. Crucifixion is execution on a cross. Pilate know Jesus was innocent because He refused to give any answers to His accusation but he didn't free him because he was afraid of the riot brought by the Jewish authorities. The crowd choose to release Barabbas instead of Jesus was because there were many supporters of Barabbas and some were bribed by the Jewish authority. The Pilate washed his hands at the end and said he is innocent of Jesus’ blood.

The soldiers mocked and ridiculed Jesus by stripping him and put a scarlet robe on him with a crown of thorns.

When Jesus entered into His passion, he fell silent and faithfully obeyed the Father’s will. Jesus knew beforehand that everything would happen in accordance with God’s plan. Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane and was determined to surrender himself to God in order to do His will.


Golgotha is also named as ‘The Place of the Skull’ or ‘Calvary’. The King of the Jews was technically true in the political sense, but the Pilate intended the note to be an insult to the Jewish Leaders for forcing his hand. The repentant bandit asked Jesus to remember him when He come into His kingdom. The darkness preceded death, it was a sign of god’d judgment against the sins of mankind. The tearing of the temple curtain means the barrier between God and mankind has been removed and all people now have access to God’s presence through faith in Jesus. An earthquake in the Old Testament is a sign of God presence and act of God. The death of Jesus was the saving act of God. The dead resurrecting demonstrate Jesus death is life-giving.

A rich man from Arimathea, called Joseph took Jesus’ body for burial. Mary Magdalene found out the stone had been rolled away from the entrance and went to find Simon Peter. Mary Magdalene was the first person Jesus appeared to after His resurrection. Jesus asked Mary to tell his disciples that he was risen from death. The disciples didn’t believe it at first and Peter ran to the tomb with John.


Jesus’ resurrection is the central fact of the Christian faith. Jesus is risen from the dead and the ressurection was. an act of God. Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is alive, present and active among the believers. The resurrection shows that there is life after death, eternal life with God. The resurrection shows that the power of evil has been defeated.
