to be thus is nothing but to be safely thus our fears in banquo stick deep and in his royalty of nature deigns that which would be feared tis much he dares and to that the dauntless temper of his mind he has a wisdom that guides his valour to act in safety there is none but he whos being i do fear and under him my genius is rebuked as it is said by caesar he chid the sisters when they first put the name of king upon me and bade them to speak to him then prophet like they hailed him father to a line of kings upon my head they placed a fruitless crown and put a barren sceptre in my gripe thence to be wrenched with an unlineal hand no son of mine succeeding if it be so for banquos issue have i filed my mind for them the gracious duncan i have murdered put rancours in the vessels of my peace only for them and mine eternal jewel given to the common enemy of man to make them kings the seed of banquo kings rather than so come fate into the list and champion me to the utterance

Macbeth says this (soliloquy) about how banquos children are going to steal the crown from him and that he went through all this hard work and nightmares for nothing - he comes to the conclusion that he must kill banquo - this happens after macbeth and banquo have a conversation where macbeth discovers banquo wont be at dinner and he is going on a ride with his son
