macbeth (soliloquy) before killing Duncan -he cant sleep and ends up wandering around

macbeth says there is not enough water to wash me of the deed, it would turn the oceans red - after killing duncan and meeting up with wife to return to their chamber

and when we have our naked frailties hid that suffer in exposure let us meet and question this most bloody piece of work to know it further fears and scruples shake us in the great hand of god i stand and thence against the undivulged pretense i fight of treasonous malice

banquo - lets get dressed and meet to figure this out - said upon discovery of the kings death and they wake the whole castle up

Macbeth says this (soliloquy) about how banquos children are going to steal the crown from him and that he went through all this hard work and nightmares for nothing - he comes to the conclusion that he must kill banquo - this happens after macbeth and banquo have a conversation where macbeth discovers banquo wont be at dinner and he is going on a ride with his son

we hear our bloody cousins are bestowed in england and ireland not confessing to their cruel parricide filling their hearers with ridiculous lies but of that tomorrow when wherewithal we shall have cause of state craving us jointly hie you to horse goodbye until you return tonight goes fleance with you

macbeth says this to banquo when realizing he wont be at supper and is instead riding with fleance - he tells him that his cousins are in hiding because they killed their father and lying to people

now have you considered my speeches know that it was he in the times past which held you so under fortune which you thought had been our innocent self this i made good to you in our last conference went over the evidence with you how you were decieved how crossed the instruments who used with them and all things that might to half a soul and a notion crazed say thus did banquo

macbeth is talking to the murderers convincing them that banquo is the enemy so that they go kill him

both of you know banquo is your enemy so he is mine and in such bloody distance that every minute of his being thrusts against my heart and though i could with barefaced power sweep him from my sight and bid by will justify it yet i must not for certain friends that are both his and mine whos loves i may not drop but wail his fall who i myself struck down and thence it is that i to your assistance do make love masking the business from the common eye for many weighty reasons

macbeth to the murderers convincing them to kill banquo because he cant he must hide the deed from the people at dinner

your spritis shine through you within this hour at most i will advise you where to plant yourslef aquaint you with the perfect spy of time the moment on it for must be done tonight and something from the palace and with him to leave no rubs nor botches in the work fleance his son is no less material to me than his fathers must embrace the fate of that dark hour resolve yourselves ill come to you anon

macbeth says yay thanks for doing it, it must be done tonight i will give you all the information dont screw up, fleance must be killed as well he is not less important than banquo, embrace the dark fate i will let you decide and come later

it is concluded banquo thy souls flight if it find heaven must find it out tonight

macbeth says this to himself after a long conversation with the murderers trying to convince them to kill banquo. he says banquo if your soul is going to heaven or hell you will find out tonight

noughts had alls spent where our desire is got without content tis safer to be that which we destroy than by destruction dwell in doubtfull joy… how now my lord why do you keep alone of sorriest fancies your companions making using those thoughts which should have indeed died with them they think on things without all remedy should be without regard whats done is done

lady macbeth says this to macbeth, she asks how are you dont think about it any more its done this is after she discovers banquo is gone (not dead yet)

we have scorched the snake not killed it shell close and be herself while our poor malice remains in the danger of her former tooth but let the frame of things disjoint both the worlds suffer ere we will eat our meal in fear and sleep in the affliction those terrible dreams that shake us nightly better be with the dead whom we to gain our peace than on the torture of the mind to lie in restless ecstasy duncan is in his grave after lifes fitiful fever he sleeps well treason has done his worst nor steel nor poison malice domestic foreign levy nothing can touch him further

macbeth says it is not done, we have only cut the snake not cut its head off, lady macbeth is talking in regard of duncans murder, unaware that he wants to kill banquo. macbeth says lucky duncan nothing can bother him anymore

come on gentle my lord sleek over your rugged looks be bright and jovial among your guests tonight… you must leave this

lady macbeth telling macbeth to pretend everythings fine at the dinner tonight and he diesnt need to worry

macbeth says this while conversing with his wife trying to tell her that his mind is not a good place but its okay because hes goin to solve the problem but he doesnt tell her how (murder baquo)

is he dispatched? … thou art the best of cutthroats yet hes good that did the like for fleance if thou didst it thou art the nonpareil

macbeth says this t the murderer at dinner asking if banquo has been killed already and praising him

then comes my fit again i had else been perfect whole as the marble founded as the rock as broad and general as the casing air but now i am cabined cribbed confined boud in to saucy doubts and fears but banquos safe?… thanks for that there the grown serpet lies the worms that fled hath nature that in time will venom breed no teeth for the present get thee gone tomorrow well hear ourselves again

upon learning fleance had escaped death macbeth says oh no i was just starting to be stable and now im not again i am victim to my fears? but banquo is safe from overthrowing me? the worm thats fled is fleance macbeth is saying that in time he will come back for revenge so he must be killed now before that happens

which of you have done this? thou canst not say i did it never shake thy gory locks at me

macbeth sees banquos ghost at dinner

lady macbeth tells the dinner guests to stay seated they dont need to leave macbeth is fine … then to macbeth more privately shes like whats wrong with you? this is like an old wives tale

macbeth asks his wife how can u act so normal but i cant

lady macbeth to ross and their dinner guests, you should all leave, he is getting worse

macbeth says this to the witches, annoyed they wont tell him what he wants and he learns no one will rebell until birnam .. the witches answer his question by showing him a line of kings with many many more

time thou anticipatest my dread exploits the flighty purpose never is overtook unless the deed go with it from this moment the very firstlings of my heart shall be the firstlings of my hand and even now to crown my thoughts with acts be it thought and done the castle of macduff i will surprise seize upon fife give the edge of the sword his wife his babes and all unfortunate souls that trace him in his line no boasting like a fool this deed ill do beofre this purpose cool but no more sights where are they? bring me to them

macbeth discovers from lennox that macduff has fled and decides to raid his castle and murder everyone
