(Strongest form of Conformity)

Identification

Temporary change of behavior & beliefs, only in the presence of the group.

Compliance

Following the group’s ideas only to gain approval & avoid disapproval. Agree publicly, but disagree privately.

(Weakest form of conformity)

ISI: Informational Social Influence

Conforms to seem correct by copying others. Occurs when we lack knowledge to form our own beliefs.

Often leads to internalisation

NSI : Normative Social Influence

When a person’s need to be accepted drives compliance
