OBJECTIVE: recall causative pathogen for each STI
Chlamydia: chlamidya trachomatis
Gonorrhea: Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID): Chlamydia trachomatis or N. gonorrhoeae and anaeorbes
OBJECTIVE: Recognize distinguishing signs/symptoms and notable characteristics for each STI
Chlamydia: cervicitis, urtheritis
Gonorrhea: symptoms more in men → urethritis and epididymitis (women → urethritis and cervicitis)
PID: mild symptoms
Genital herpes: vesicular or ulcerative lesions
OBJECTIVE: Recommend pharmacologic therapies for each corresponding STI
Chlamydia: doxycycline
Gonorrhea: Ceftrixone IM (cefixime for EPT, the partner); treat for chlamdiya with doxy if it was not excluded with testing
PID: ceftriaxone IM + doxyxline + metronidazole
Genital Herpes: acyclovir, famciclovir, valacyclovir (if severe, use IV acyclovir)
