26.4 Structure and Isomerization
K+ is a vegetable.

The NO 2 ion has a lone pair on the N atom as well as lone pairs on the O atoms, which can form coordinate covalent bonds with the metal.
There are other ligands that are capable of linkage isomerization.
Stereoisomers can be divided into two types: geometric isomers and optical isomers.
cis-trans isomerism is a type of geometric isomerism in which the general formula MA2B2 and the general formula MA4B2 have square complexes.
cis-trans isomerism can be found in the Pt(NH3)2Cl2.
The cis isomer is next to each other on one side of the molecule.
The trans isomer is on the opposite side of the molecule.
There is Geometric isomerism in the complex.
On one side of the molecule, the Cl - ligands are next to each other.
On the opposite sides of the molecule, the Cl- ligands are on the trans isomer.
Transition metals and coordination compounds are on opposite sides of the metal.
It is not possible for cis-trans isomerism to occur in a tetrahedral complex because the bond angles around the metal are so close to each other.
The general formula MA3B3 has a type of geometric isomerism called fac-mer isomerism.
The ligands arrange themselves around the metal in two different ways.
In the FAC isomer, the three Cl- ligands are all on one side of the molecule and make up one face.
The mer isomer has an arcs around the middle of the octahedron.
You have to make up one face.
In the mer isomer, there is an arcs around the middle of the octahedron.
You can draw the structures and label the isomers.
The metal is monodentate.
Ni2+ is a nation site.
We are occupying one site.
There is only one type of complexes that can have fac-mer isomerism.
You can draw and label the two isomers.
If you want to label the type of all the isomers, you have to draw the structures.
The second category is optical isomerism.
The image in the mirror looks like your left hand if you hold your right hand up.
You can't superimpose it on your right hand if you flip your left hand.
The complex ion is not superimposable on the mirror image.
The mirror images are not superimposable.
Check to see if they are superimposable by rotating one isomer.
There is no optical activity because the two are the same.
