Algebra: a branch of mathematics in which symbols, usually letters of the alphabet, are used to represent numbers in mathematical expressions and equations

Variable: is a letter or symbol that represent some unknown number

Expression: is a mathematical statement made up of numbers and/or variables connected by addition or subtraction

Term: is a single number or a variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together

Polynomial: is a type of expression that contains one or more terms, separated by addition or subtraction, whose variables have whole number exponents

Coefficient: is a numerical factor of a term

Constant: is a number in a polynomial that doesn’t change

Degree: is the highest power exponent in the polynomial

Monomial: is a polynomial with one term

Binomial: is a polynomial with two terms

Trinomial: is a polynomial with three terms

Polynomial: is a polynomial with 3+ terms

Like terms: are terms that consist of the same variables and exponents
